Throughout my schooling my family has always impressed upon me the value of education. My educational backgrounds of both private and public schooling in addition to my experiences at Georgia State University have helped reinforce my family’s beliefs. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity of work within a variety of educational and nonprofit organizations. My work history includes the YMCA’s teen and youth programs, Zoo Atlanta’s education department, and within the Fulton County School System coordinating afterschool programs. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to learn and teach in a variety of settings. It is the collection of these experiences and witnessing firsthand the positive and lasting effect of innovative and creative educational programming plays in a developing child’s life why I founded We Care Academy.

Throughout my childhood I have always had a strong passion for passion. Everything I do in life comes from within and with reason and purpose. I think it is important for the youth of today to find this reason at an early age. For me it was Photography. Raised in Atlanta Georgia, I was exposed to diversity and a world of Art in a way that I found so profound. I learned to appreciate the arts in all genres which has given me the ability to diversify with others so easily. I want this for the youth of today. Integration is key to a child’s success in adulthood. After attending Georgia Perimeter College for Journalism I decided I wanted to make my passion my life. I then went on to The Art Institute of Atlanta, where I studied Fine Art and Darkroom Theory. It was a great experience but I was not challenged as much in my field as I wanted to be. So I then went on to find Western Kentucky University; top school for Photojournalism in the country. I knew this was where I needed to be. Teachers who are Pulitzer Prize winners just happened to be a quality I truly admired. I like to consider myself well-rounded in life. Now currently the Director of Development of We Care Academy, I am able to exercise my passion for others with smaller voices. Keeping the Arts Alive is a campaign I not only standby, but am 100% committed too.

Born and raised in The Bronx New York, I discovered my passion for learning and cultivating young minds at the age of 15 as I was a tutor and recreation leader for an inner city group called the "Beacon Program"'. Shortly after, I relocated with my parents to San Antonio, Texas where I resided for 15 years. I have held various positions in the field of education such as pre-k teacher, curriculum coordinator, and after-school program instructor. My current certifications are in the areas of early childhood education, infant safety, First Aid and CPR. In addition to my love for teaching in the classroom, I've had the opportunity to use my skills in the arts as I have held numerous chorale director positions for adult and children choirs and given one on one voice lessons at various schools. During my educational teaching experiences I became a trainer in cooperate America in the field of the mortgage industry.
Currently I am a Journalism & Mass communications major with a minor in Educational Development at Ashford University. I am elated to be a part of the We Care family because the maturation of young minds in today's world. I believe that We Care Academy will open up the eyes of this nation to further promote learning and its importance across all socioeconomic boundaries in which will ultimately create brighter futures for all children."
